James
Gallagher
James Gallagher lives just outside of Dallas, Texas where he often acts as concertmaster/soloist with Dallas Bach Society, La Novella, and Orchestra of New Spain. In addition, James has performed with Concert Royal in New York , and New Trinity Baroque in Atlanta . From 2002-2003, he acted as concertmaster and soloist for New Trinity Baroque. He also performed with New Trinity Baroque at the Boston Early Music Festival in 2003. James enjoyed success with Concert Royal in New York last season in a performance praised by the New York Times which called the chamber group "splendid Baroque musicians". In December ’04, the Dallas Morning News praised James most recent solo appearance calling it “a suave and stylish performance.” James has a passion for improvisation, and frequently improvises live, in concert. He teaches improvisation to groups on occasion, and has a full private studio, teaching both modern and Baroque violin to youth and adults. He also directs three youth orchestras with weekly rehearsals, which are the highlights of his week. A great deal of talented musicians have taken time to invest in James' career through their mentorship, including: Simon Standage, Cynthia Roberts, Judson Griffin, and Clare Adkins Cason. Dr. Cecil Adkins made James' instrument in 1999 and gave it the fitting name " Holstein ", because of the natural "cow spots" in its ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. In July of 2004, James was married! James and his new wife Hope are enjoying a new and wonderful journey together.
